A litter of stray kittens was rescued and sent to a shelter. Matillda, the tiniest of the group, was very weak.
‘ It was decided that she’d come to my house to treat the problem ‘Ashlyn, a specialist in newborn small kitties with special needs, agrees.
It was discovered that the little kitty was suffering from a variety of illnesses, including severe pneumonia.
Despite the vets’ prognosis, the small kitty clung to life with vigor, and Ashlyn felt she needed to help.
Matillda was grateful for the help and rolled over to soothe her stomach after each feed.
Matillda had to isolate herself and devote a lot of energy to her throughout her strengthening. Ashlyn surrounded her with squishy toys when she saw how sad she was, but Matillda choose one of the many toys for comfort.
‘When she was three weeks old, I gave her a toy sheep, and she became hopelessly obsessed with it. I usually slept with him in my arms’ says Ashlyn. The kitty was lucky she met such a caring person to help her get through everything.
