A tabby cat, having been homeless enough, let the rescuer pet him and got a ticket to the sweet life.
Helen Andrews from Brooklyn, New York, takes feral cats, which she transfers to neuter and then returns to their natural environment. She oversees, among other things, one small cat colony in Clinton Hill. It was there that some time ago an unfamiliar cat began to visit. He was very attracted to feeding sessions.
The girl called the new pet Grandpa Joe because he seemed older than the rest. But it was impossible to establish contact with him – the cat ran away all the time. “At the time I had no idea how friendly he was, he hadn’t shown that side yet,” recalls Helen.
She set a humane trap because Grandpa Joe needed to be castrated. Having got the cat, the girl took it to animal rights activists. And for the first time, she wondered if her new friend was a typical savage.
The veterinarians have done their job, Grandpa Joe has regained his strength – it’s time to let him go free. But Helen wanted to make sure he didn’t need her help anymore.
Having received complete freedom in familiar terrain, the cat did not take off running, as most wild ones do. Moreover, he did not want to part with his human girlfriend at all. As soon as Helen called out to him, he meowed in response and went to her feet.
She brought the cat home and sat down with him in a quiet room. The striped tramp purred non-stop, he was so happy to be in a safe place.
After living as a homeless cat for years, Joe appreciates his new life. He is satisfied and happy, does not get tired of purring and touching with his paws.
